Fire protection symposium TÜV Nord in Hamburg

By |2021-06-28T17:37:52+02:00October 31st, 2019|Trad|

At this year’s fire protection conference of TÜV Nord in Hamburg, Genius Group had the opportunity to give a lecture on the innovative special extinguishing agent PyroBubbles for use in structural fire protection and for the safe storage of lithium ion batteries.

Fire protection is complex and therefore subject to many requirements of laws, regulations and directives, such as the fire department laws and building regulations of the federal states and numerous other laws, regulations and directives.

For the first time, the approx. 100 participants were able to get a very good impression of the innovative fire protection with PyroBubbles. The hollow glass granules from the Genius Group provide protection for pipe and system systems from the inside to the outside and from the outside to the inside.

Performance systems continue to function properly. The extremely lightweight PyroBubbles can easily be retrofitted. Both cable ducts and cable trays are protected preventively in the simplest way.

The Genius Group is the first manufacturer in Europe to be awarded a P911/LP906 designation

By |2021-06-28T17:37:29+02:00May 2nd, 2019|Trad|

Since 12 March 2019, the Genius Group has been the first manufacturer in Europe to hold a BAM (National Authority for the Transport of Transport Uncertain Lithium Ion Batteries) certificate in accordance with UN Regulation SP 376 and the new packaging regulations P911 and LP906.

BAMThese additional test requirements and verification procedures in connection with the transport of damaged or defective lithium-ion cells and batteries particularly require additional performance requirements on the packaging manufacturer (safety assessment of the reaction gases and particles, functional verification, procedure concept for determining transport, etc.)

The verified test procedure of Genius and LionGuard is the result of many real fire tests, especially with high-voltage batteries from the automotive industry.

These results are recorded in a database. Possible thermal runaway are therefore always under control during a UN-compliant transport. This method is also used in the field of safe storage, quarantine and test bench containers for lithium-ion batteries.

Genius Group is particularly proud to be the first manufacturer in Europe to have this official document. “This gives our customers the flexibility and security they need. For example, a real fire test can be dispensed with if there are already positive fire tests with comparable batteries and containers.”  (→ Determination by BAM)

Brands of the Volkswagen Group

Since 2015 Genius Technology GmbH has been supplying LionGuard boxes to the Volkswagen Group worldwide.
The Packaging Group I type resistant special containers can transport damaged and unsafely transportable lithium-ion batteries up to 400 kg within the meaning of the ADR, in accordance with SV 376 (P908) as well as various definitions by the BAM (e.g. ADR/2-2181/14).

The components are matched to each other in such a way that even a thermal runaway by one of the car batteries presents no threat to the immediate environment. Besides Volkswagen, LionGuard is also supplied internationally to the Porsche, Audi and Skoda automobile makes. In late 2015, the first deliveries were made to China, USA, Australia, France, New Zealand.

In providing this German engineering expertise, and in cooperation with the Volkswagen Group, Genius Technology GmbH has become a world leader in the manufacture of safety systems for dangerous goods transport (UN 3480, UN 3481) in the field of critical lithium-ion batteries. All individual components are manufactured in Germany, in order to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety.
Further developments of new special containers and filter solutions are being implemented and planned.

ZEG Bike Show Köln 2018

By |2021-06-28T17:43:55+02:00July 27th, 2018|Blognews|

From July 20 through July 23, 2018 Europe’s leading bicycle purchasing association ZEG extended invitations to its traditional ZEG Bike Show at Exhibition Hall 8 in Cologne. More than 110 exhibitors and 5,000 participants took the opportunity to present their latest products for the coming season.

Attending the ZEG Bike Show for the first time this year, The Genius Group took the opportunity to make its own presentation. The Genius Group, together with Board of Director Egbert Hageböck, has developed exclusive products for ZEG members, providing safe storage and UN-compliant transport of E-Bike batteries. Both the Lithium-Ion Akku Safe Box and the Lithium-Ion Akku Safe Big as well as the fire extinguisher for E-bike batteries were very well received.

Plans are also underway to provide spacious cabinets for charging and storing E-bike batteries. This project was met with a lot of encouragement from the bicycle dealers attending, since these battery cabinets will provide a solution for the separate storage of functioning and defective batteries, without the risk of functional batteries being endangered by a possible thermal runaway in other batteries.
